I know the definition of a standing wave, but have a hard time - TopicsExpress

I know the definition of a standing wave, but have a hard time grasping exactly how to treat them. Every room is bound to have standing waves present, and acoustic treatment would be the line of defense, right? So, how does one accurately figure out how to treat them? My room is treated, but aside from the obvious reflection points, the placement is somewhat random. Where to start? Walking around a room listening for amplitude differences seems like a way of winging it; DB meter perhaps?
