I know the logical reasons why deer must be hunted. Thinning overcrowded herds being one of the reasons. Too many deer in a herd result in ill or starving animals. If a family is hungry, and the deer meat is needed to feed them, I understand. That doesnt mean I like it, but I understand. Today, I heard about someone who went hunting for the first time, just for the thrill of it. That person killed 2 deer. They did NOT kill because they needed the meat. When I questioned my source, he said something about it being because of the thrill of the hunt. What saddens me the most is that the person is so proud of the kill. I can honestly say that most of my children have NEVER gone hunting, nor would they. They get their love of animals from me. I simply CANT be proud of that person as I usually am. It pains me to think that they felt joy at the kill. Ill never say anything about it to the person, and theyll never read my feelings. As I pray tonight, (contrary to popular belief, I DO pray), I will ask for guidance to help me understand what happened. AND I will ask that I be given the wisdom to not condemn something I do not understand. Gonna be a tough couple of days for me.
