I know this area of Michigan and, in fact, spent two years directing a federal program for the Muskegon Heights Public Schools which is a pocket of poverty with a population of African Americans. The strange thing is that they have a $4 million farmers market; but cannot condone neighborhood gardens and the selling of produce on a small local scale. I know from experience that most backyard gardeners generously give extra produce to neighbors
