I know this cave! It is one of my favorite places. I spent a wonderful holy day there all alone one winter when I was studying iconography down on Crete. I had nothing to eat all day but Holy Communion in the morning and then I went up to the hermits cave and that was a bit of a hike. I had only the holy water that is in the cave from the holy spring, and that sustained me all day hiking around in the mountains. I saw no one all day and was alone in the mountains. It was a bright sunny warm winter day, and the view from the cave overlooking the sea was fabulous. I felt very close to the hermit saint who had lived there and imagined what it must have been like.
