I know this group probably isnt big on comics in general, however for anyone interested in a cape to look up too, and one of the big two, id reccomend checking out the third volume (of four) of Daredevil: The Man Without Fear This is written by Mark Waid with some different artists. Mark Waid presents this not as popular hero with a fun blend of serious storytelling and comedy. Prior knowledge on the character isnt really needed. All you need to know, is when you pick up this volume, Matt Murdocks identity as the hero of Hells Kitchen has been outed to the public, however he retains the defense that he is not Daredevil. One third of New York believes that he is, one third believes a blind man cant be a master martial artist and acrobat, and the last third just doesnt care. Matt Murdock struggles with keeping his identity as low profile as possible, his struggling career as a lawyer, when people believe him to be a vigilante having him practice law seems odd. He faces some sins of his past, romantic issues, and taking on a responsibility dealing with the worlds megacrime organizations. Something that makes hero fights a little more fun are his lack of real powers and abilities. It adds more consequence when a cape has more human limits (thats not to say thats how all capes should be dictated or that gives good defining storytelling.) Matt being blinded as a child has hieghtened senses (so much so that he can read by scanning his hand across the ink of a paper, or tell when someone lies based on their heartbeat), and has developed a radar sense of the general area around him similar to a sonar. Its a fun and not very long read in this volume. The current storytellings do run a little dry, but Daredevil in general is popular enough to have great stories, and not popular enough to keep to a status quo, placing Murdock in a position where bad stories are rare.
