I know this is a two edged sword but I am sitting here watching the news and I have to comment ....I know I shouldnt but you all know me by now and I just cant help myself!! I have a weak spot in my heart for children and so I have not posted anything so far about the children coming in from Central America because I know there are a lot of different opinions on this issue. I know we cant continue to take on more and more illegal immigrants but I also know that we cant pack helpless children back up in a bus and send them back into harms way to be go into who knows what kind of situation but that isnt what this is about. I was watching the news and saw where the City of Columbia is debating on opening up the City to 350 or more of these immigrants because we are a City of Hope and Hospitality to all. GREAT...I think that is wonderful. I like the idea of having Hope and being Hospitable but isnt this the same City that wants to deport the Homeless to another County and give taxis rides to Inmates to get them out of town once they are released? Shouldnt we also be trying to maybe build a shelter for the Homeless? Or even work on some innovative idea like letting them work for food and shelter - maybe clean up our roads, streets and highways? And maybe - just maybe we could work on figuring out how in the heck we have 650 inmates that they said they are releasing monthly - that number seems a little inflated to me unless they are arresting the same folks over and over again and if that is the case then maybe we have another problem but we dont want to get me started on that judicial thing again do we?
