I know this is not a typical way for most folks to celebrate Christmas, but I had a very special morning. We did our family Christmas last night and that was fun. But this morning, Melanie got the crud (Merry Christmas, Babe) so shes not feeling very perky. She does NOT want me hangin around trying to nurse her so I went to boat and performed some maintenance. So...there I was, on my knees, cleaning the bilge (a very yucchhy job) but all the while reflecting on the love that God has for me and the blessings of a loving family, a good home, meaningful employment, and most of all, the PEACE that comes from knowing Christ in a personal way. The world is a crazy place and getting crazier by the minute. There is evil all around us and spiritual warfare that sometimes seems like our enemy has got the upper hand. But God is still God and His love has made a way for us, through the birth, and death, and resurrection of Jesus, so that through Christ, we might have restored fellowship with the creator of the Universe. I can think of nothing more AWESOME than that. The bilge is clean again, and my heart is refreshed by that time of fellowship with our Lord. I know it sounds silly, but I often find that quiet time alone doing some mindless chore, is exactly what I need to help me refocus, and put into perspective that truth that is all too often squeezed out by the chaos that the world pushes on us.
