I know this is not dog related, but I can not just pass it by. I have not seen little Leigha in a little over a year as the rescue of the Phoenix 67 took up all our time and we didnt make it to every Sunday service at Heights Church. When we did attend, we spent a LOT of time serving in the nursery (yes, even Lars!!) - we were there in nursery at some point every Sunday, watching babies and little ones so their moms and dads could attend church. I could never forget Leigha. She was only a little over a year old (now she is three years old) when we were serving and I remember everything about her. She LOVED for me to hold her and I was great at tending to her needs and keeping her happy while her parents enjoyed a great sermon. She would sit in my lap nearly the whole time, even to play. Such a sweet, sweet girl. Today, I saw this on her mommas Facebook wall. Little Leigha has been diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor. This is a rare kidney cancer that affects small children. She has undergone a five hour surgery to remove not only the tumor, but also her right kidney and part of her lymph nodes. Now she will have to endure 20-40 Chemo treatments. While medical insurance will cover some of this, the estimates of out of pocket expenses could be up to, if not more than, $700 a month for cancer patients. If you can not help, please keep Leigha in your thoughts and prayers, send her good vibes, whatever it is you do - please do it for Leigha. This is a sweet family and an adorable little girl and I am confident that she will be just fine. Jess Swearingen Co Founder leashsquad@gmail
