I know this isnt Turner Classic Movies and Im no Robert Osborne -- but I wanted to share this. In White Christmas, theres a scene where Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye perform in *drag* to help their new girl friends escape a sticky situation. When shooting the scene, Bing (a respected (and fairly masculine)!star of 20+ years) was very uncomfortable and nervous. The scene below (which was used in the film) was the first take and Danny Kaye was doing most of his humor off the cuff to relax Bing. Toward the end of the routine, when Danny whacks Bing with the giant blue feather, Bing reacts with uproarious laughter and continues laughing (even over the backing track of the sisters singing) all the way to the end. Hes not acting - itd actually funny. My god -- Its so human and so real and its the type of show business I wish could exist today.
