I know this may not make sense to some, but I have to post this, because I continue to see it almost everyday. 25-35,oooWon/hr for part time is not acceptable. For those old and new, you should realize 40,oooWon should be the lowest pay your recieve per hour unless you are contracted with benefits. Currently Korea is going through a process where the government is cutting all the publi school jobs bit by bit. Also, private academies and other institutions are offering poor pay and conditions for lots of work. For those of you who havent noticed, in the last 2yrs. alone, the cost of living has gone up a good bit. Our pay stays the same though. However, schools charge more. On top of that, many schools are cutting back on offering wages and benefits. **Side note, if youre listed as an employee on your contract, but are not recieving health care or pension, you should visit the pension office or immigration and get that worked out. Depending where you are form, you are entitled that. Back at it though. Excepting anything less than 50 for a private is not fair to yourself or anyone else out there. When you factor out how much you make an hour at your current work, maybe 25-35/hr seems high, but are you also counting the flight money, insurance, pension, housing, and other benefit costs into your contract pay. If you do that, most of you are making 45-65/hr. Then, when teaching part time or hourly work, you need to include travel time and costs. How much are you worth? How much is your time worth? Does traveling to that job cost you the opprotunity of being able to work other jobs? Please, to all new and old teachers, think about all these things. Also, I know its not jsut the teachers. Then there are the schools themselves and the recruiters. Now dont message me if youre a recruiter or block me or some crazy stuff. Im not saying its all your fault. Then again, if youre posting jobs like this, you know youre wrong. Youre still posting these jobs though and making the schools think its ok to do this. Together as teachers, recruiters, and schools owners, we need to fix this. Teachers, just sotp excepting less than you are worth. Recruiters, try your best to not deal with those jobs. I know it may cost you money, but alot of teachers are leaving and packing up. Soon its going to be alot of under experienced teachers running it all and the parents will want to know what happened to all the quality teachers. And schools, lets just get real. You make a ton of money. Offering a few more Won per class wont kill you. We might not be Korean, but we have made lifes here and are trying to survive the same as you and your families. Mic drop ;)
