I know this photo isnt the greatest, but it serves to illustrate another memory I have regarding the Red Bank train station. Does anyone remember when the Fresh Air Program brought children from New York City to Red Bank? My parents signed up to be hosts to these children in the mid 1950s. The children would arrive en masse at the Red Bank train station, where the host families would pick them up. This is a photo of Mary and Maud, two sisters we hosted from New York City. I believe the photo was taken at Swimming River, where the Fresh Air Program hosted a picnic for the children and their host families. I am curious to know whether this program still exists, and whether the children still arrive at the Red Bank train station?
