I know this post isnt about the seventies. My family moved to Wrentham in 1962. One day in the woods off of Phillips Lane where we lived I saw a black panther, yes a cougar. Of course I told nobody about this as I thought I was hallucinating. Fortunately the big cat didnt come over to me and try me out as a snack. I never started talking about this until years later when I read an article in Yankee magazine about how cougars were native to the east coast years ago and now they are gone. I know what I saw. Later my sister Demi told me that she and Kathy Conroy had seen one in 73 and it was brown. Where they reproducing?! So my question is has anyone else ever seen or heard stories about these elusive critters back in the day? I know I wasnt dreaming and I never saw it again. Scary to think that they were roaming around as we used to play in the woods alot.
