I know this to be true for many vets and especially those who toured a combat zone... It humbles me to tears upon receiving death notices. It feels like losing a brother or best friend every time. Their families sorrow, disbelief, anger and honor clashing. For us(me) we feel a sense of responsibility that with our experience, knowledge and leadership we may-may have been able to save their lives... Then... Guilt sets in and it never leaves... And it screws with you the rest if your life. The ultimate sacrifice is what the oath is all, and most spoke about...there is more. These families will endure these sacrifices for the rest of their lives... Pray for them. They have lost a hero! As we have as well. REST IN PEACE!
