I know we don’t all share the same faith. I understand that and I do respect that others don’t study or read from the same book I do. In terms of life lessons however, I just feel compelled to share what was in my devotional reading today, because I think it pin points the exact reason I am SO compelled to help people live healthier lives no matter what others say about my efforts. Or keep trying to reach people no matter how many times they tell me NO, or I get made fun of or people say hurtful things. The Bible teaches us that we are blessed not just so that we can feel good, not just so we can be happy and comfortable, but so that we can in turn bless others. My kids have asked me, how do you bless others? There are many ways, by serving a need, whether it is physical or emotional support, financial help, or practical advice. The more we’re blessed by God, the more he expects us to help others. Jesus said it this way in Luke 12: “Much is required from the person to whom much is given; much more is required from the person to whom much more is given” I have been given so much in my life, that it is only right for me to pay it forward. It was given to me, so I should give it to someone else who needs it. I talk about the joy I feel when I help a young girl lose 40 lbs or a Women in her 50’s lose 48lbs and come off blood pressure medication. Or a cancer patient who can’t eat food because of nausea and I work on her diet and meal plan and she calls me weeks later in tears and blessed me for helping her in a time of need. It’s crazy that I can help people this way. I have truly seen in my life that when you care about helping other people, when it comes from a place in your heart, where you can’t help but want to do good for others, God will assume the responsibility for your problems. And that’s a real blessing, for He is much better at handling your difficulties than you are.
