I know you all remember being asked to support the Womens Prison Book Project. One of our good citizens Denise King sent in a contribution and this is the reply she received in the mail. The donations do make a difference. Good morning Beverly and Bevyville, I just received a letter in the mail that brought tears to my eyes. It was from the Womens Prison Book Project, I hope you dont mind me sharing a little bit of it. First they Thanked me for the 30 books I had sent and then some of the women wanted to let me know how they felt, here is just two of the four comments. Your carefully selected loving books just arrived. Your books and wonderful affection to me ( as I had 30 years sentence) is what keeps me alive. The second comment ( made my tears fall),In order to maintain my self -esteem and my wholeness I read, and I read a lot.You have given me hope and positiveness to my plight here in prison.Women in all prisons need to know that ppl on the outside really do care and are thinking of ways to help us.Thank you for caring. I just want to Thank you again Beverly for letting me know about this project. The lady who is in charge of the project said Thanks for these much needed African-American Romance, Fab!!! — feeling emotional.
