They dont know the Nigerian history.Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme was the most educated and qualified Nigerian amongst all Vice Presidents and Presidents we have ever had. He is also the cleanest and most honest Nigerian to ever hold a political office. The evidence is in the verdict of the military tribunal that tried him under General Buhari. The tribunal stated as follows; this man apparently left office much poorer than he was before he came into office, to demand more from him is to set a target which only angels can attain.Vice President Ekwueme, well educated, honest, loyal to his boss and very resourceful was set to be the next President of Nigeria since he was on his last lap with President Shagari, a moderate muslim from the Caliphate. As they begun their second term in office , General Buhari struck. In a press statement by the then minister of Transport Umaro Dikko, Dikoo clearly said that the major reason for the coup was to prevent an Igbo man from being Nigerian President after the recent civil war.buhari sent the first republic government Vice President Alex Ekwueme to prison and not the president Shehu Shagari. All over the world the president calls the shots and are to be blamed or punished when things go wrong but in this case the vice takes the punishment. Buhari,as his practices placed President Shagari his fulani brother under house arrest inside a palatial mansion in Ikoyi while he locked up Shagaris Vice, Alex Ekwueme in Kirikiri Prison. buhari jailed so many southerners & pampered the northerners Those at the forefront of the coup led by Buhari are actually the military commanders who fought the civil war on the Nigerian part. This was why Umaro Dikko went into exile. This was why the civil war soldiers led by Buhari hired terrorists to kidnap him and cart him back to Nigeria in a crate for debriefing. Also note that one of the first person arrested by and jailed by Buhari was Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. Also note that Ojukwu was NEVER a political office holder as at then.Why was Ojukwu arrested and jailed by the coupist who were detaining politicians? Can anybody in this country tell us what Ojukwu did? The suspicion was that Ojukuw was brought back to subtly lend support to Ekwuemes bid to become President after Shagari. CAN THE IGBO BUHARIST KINDLY TELL ME WHY OJUKWU WAS JAILED BY BUHARI. Was Ojukwu an ex governor, minister or political office holder as at then? Can we go back and read Ojukwu’s book titled “Because Im involved”. Ojukwu wrote that book in prison and smuggled it out thinking he will be killed in prison. In the book he clearly stated what Umaru Dikko had said earlier on. The cause of the coup was because an Igbo man was set to become President and this coincided with Ojukwus return from exile and state pardon by Shehu Shagari. If the 1983 coup was actually because of corruption, can anyone compare the wealth of Shehu Shagari, Alex Ekwueme, Lateef Jakande, Ambrose Alli, Sam Mbakwe, Adekunle Ajasin, with the wealth of the military so called liberators like Buhari, Babangida, Sani Abacha, and even military governors who served under the military. Military rulers, introduced by Buhari in 1983 were actually the ones who thought us corruption.
