I learned that Governor Corbett finally had an audience with Pope Francis and urged the Pontif to travel to Philadelphia to participate in the Family Day events. I thought about how the conversation might go: Pope - So you would like me to visit Philadelphia as part of the Family Day event. Are you interested in the problems of families. Govenor - Absolutely; I think the integrity and strength of families is most important. Pope - Wonderful; tell me about what you have done in support of families. Govenor - Well, there are many things. I rejected the expansion of public health insurance for low-income families, made it more difficult for these same families to get food assistance, and I intend to do all I can to not increase education funding for the states most financially distressted cities. Pope - We think that traveling to Philadelphia might be a good idea, as I had a vision while praying that a miracle might occur if we make this journey. Govenor - Incredible; could you tell me what kind of miracle might happen. Pope - Yes. In my vision you cease being a cheap bastard with regard to the needs of the hungry, sick, and undereducated and have an epiphany that these needs could be funded by making the shale gas industry pay a reasonable tax burden like they do in other states. Have a nice trip back and be sure to stop at the Vatical gift shop on your way out.
