I left Kaiser because of changes that I felt made it unsafe to work there. The addition of telemetry after giving everyone a single 8 hour class in which the instructor gave us the test answers. Not requiring ACLS when they added telemetry. Sending patient who were actually unstable to the floor, many with elevated troponins only so we could transfer them to a higher level of care(this could take up to 5 hours). Then they also decided our med-surg floor would also become the observation floor. At the time we took 5 patients. Most days all of us would lose anywhere from 2-5 of our patients and readmit the same number. I went to management, I discussed it during nurse practice council but nothing was done. I could not safely perform my job so on ethical grounds I left. If Kiaser thinks these kinds of decisions are improving care, let Andy and The rest of the CEOs spend a few days on 3N as a patient. #KOIN
