I let my 10 year old daughter walk 5 houses down for a neighbor kids party. Ive never let her walk that far on her own before. Yes, as a matter of fact, I am THAT mom. And I actually watched from the sidewalk the all way up to their front door. She had a bag, her phone, flipped her hair, she was so proud and sure of herself. As I watched her, I got Teary eyed. They really DO grow up and wander farther from the nest and Im not sure my heart can handle that. I have all these tender feelings about the concept of time. I feel pain and angst about her growing without me and want to bring her back to me as the little girl she once was. I would enjoy her and be better now than I was as she grew up. But life goes on, children grow, and some times, that 10 year old girl needs to be let free a little bit. But shes still young and needs to be little. This is why, if she still wants an occasional My Little Pony figurine at age 10, Im all for it, no questions asked. She doesnt need to grow up any faster than she will. #Letthembelittle *nikki*
