I let my heart touch the water’s edge, Slowly let it sink and turn the water red. I watched my heart as it bled. This pain I do not begrudge. I hope you find this someday, My message in a bottle, Before it sinks too deep or floats too far away. Smelling of rust and written with blood, My cry is short. “Do not leave.” Amidst the crash of the waves and the prattle, You might not hear this cry, Will you then turn a blind eye? To the pain and fly, Fly away at my goodbye? Will my lies deceive? Even you…? Or will you see the scar; I call a tattoo? And will you hold me close, Even when I choose the thorn to the rose? Are these the dreams born of hope and innocence? Am I simply holding handfuls of sand to the wind? Will your eyes always remain this unkind? And will mine always stare off into the distance, Waiting… waiting for you to notice my absence? -Nive M, Absence poeticmusings123.blogspot.in/2013/07/absence.html
