I like Alan Watts ideas and I like this a lot, but he stops short of answering the question he raises: What shall we do to fix the world? He stops short because he admittedly has no answer in 1970 other than to wait and watch for what happens on its own. I think if he were alive today, and could see the various spontaneous grassroots movements that keep forming and then threatening well established power structures all over the world, I think he might conclude that we werent at a dead end in 1970 but only at a corner, and from his perspective back then he couldnt see around the corner. I dont think were at a dead end. Yes, I see difficult problems ahead but I also see a much better future than the past weve left behind. Ill step off my soapbox now.
