I like the idea of perma death and for everyone who doesnt like - TopicsExpress

I like the idea of perma death and for everyone who doesnt like the idea maybe I can convince you that its not all that bad. A normal example of perma death in a game would be DayZ and in a lot of ways that kind of death is frustrating. You have grinded hours into your character and have gear and equipment that you have grown attached to only to lose it all in an instant. But what if in No Mans Sky for example dying was in a sense awesome? You get into a intense dog fight and take a heavy hit to the side of your ship the music changes and all the systems in front of you start to shut down. Looking to your side you see your wing is gone as a small fire ignites in the cockpit. You would then have the option do carry on shooting until you burn up and the ship explodes, watch as you plummet towards a planets surface or eject into space and watch as your ship explode in front of you, your suits HUD then cuts out and your screen starts to fade as the music softly sings you out. The point Im making is that this ads emotion to your own death and not a negative rage kind but death with a sad tone and a slice of awesome that could bring a tear to your eye. This way you can also almost chose how you want to die and by choosing your death you embrace it and therefore perma death is less frustrating. You would begin a new character knowing your past adventure had come to a dramatic but satisfying end. Now if you were to eject out of your ship planetside then you would fall safely down to the surface and become stranded. This way you keep your suit and multi-tool but lose only your ship. Sean has stated that he likes the idea of being stranded but the rest of the team doesnt share this opinion and it most likely wont happen. If it did, a cool idea is that you would send out a beacon that would eventually get picked up by AI who would come and save you after an unknown time meaning you would have to survive on a potentially hostile planet for a time. Once being rescued you would be taken to the nearest space station and could buy a new ship or be given a starter ship. Thoughts? Sorry for the essay...
