I like the idea of positivity movements, so therefore each day in September I’m going to call out someone I know who inspires me and give a little background on why. If you like the sound of it why not do it yourself. Day 7 Today is about my Dad. It seems kind of a give in that I would dedicate todays inspiration to my dad. After all here in NZ we are celebrating Fathers Day. Whilst Ive never really bought into the commercial nature of such days I appreciate the sentiment. As I alluded to yesterday, parents should always be recognised for their work, If my dads anyone to go by their work is never done. I still ring him weekly with mathematical questions from work or to sound out my film projects and often to proof read my material. Its never to much of a hassle. Ive come to rely heavily on his input. I think I get my strong work ethic from dad, I often see his successes and decision making processes as a good rule book for my own career. There comes a point when the work you do is more important than the fiscal reward. Dad proved that to me practically recently by voluntarily taking a shift in career focus that some people might consider unusual, but ultimately he did it to follow his own interests. This is something I believe we should all consider doing. In the past Ive written before about the chromosomes that Dad and I share for music appreciation as well as the mutual love of cinema. All together this makes for a pretty awesome influence. I hope one day I can give my own children the same gift. Happy commercial fatherhood appreciation day dad.
