I like this article but to me it sounds like the male author needs to read more Alice Walker, bell hooks and Audrey Lourde. Feminism is not an umbrella that women of color have found a ton of shelter under but it is a place to start the conversation and move to a place of inclusion rather than play I the oppression Olympics. Patriarchy, like racism is a complex. a system of un earned assets that the benefactors can cash in on every day. While there is the reality of subjugation and subordination of black men to white women (especially in the united states), they are still benefactors of patriarchy. You can see it throughout the Diaspora and you can see it in organizations n like the NAACP, the Council on Black Minnesotans and other areas/organizations in Minnesota and around the diaspora that are still male dominated. We have to have a hard and tough conversation about patriarchy within the black community that doesnt ignore the impact of racism but doesnt simply excuse the system of subordination that males of all colors can tap into at a moments notice.
