I like this, it is true, sometimes all it takes is asking and being persistent. Our newest addition to the family, LilBit, is a good example of that persistence. She is a very young cat, not even fully grown yet. When she came to us it was winter, a couple weeks before that really cold spell hit. I saw her in the yard searching for any tid bit she could find, I finally started throwing out little scraps of this or that for her cause I hated seeing her suffer and scrounging. We did not let her in as I really did not want another animal, was not sure how Nala would take it, my constant companion of the past ten years, but, as it is said, if you start feeding one, it is yours. She would try to get in the house and I would not let her but we put a blanket on the porch to help her keep warm at night. Then, the weather said it was supposed to get bitter cold and we could not see making her stay out in that cold as we did not believe she would survive it. So her persistence at trying to get in paid off, we let her in. When I threw bits of food out for her, she would make this sound as she gobbled it up in a hurry. It almost sounded like thanks and praise to God for the food. Broke my heart to pieces every time I heard that sound. Alyne finally got to hear what I was talking about because once we let her in, she would still do it when we fed her and she would eat anything and everything to the point of getting sick. She had been dropped off and had been abused. It took her some time to stop cringing after she got sick when she realized we were not going to hurt her for having got sick after eating so much. She had been house trained which made it even more difficult to understand how anyone could abuse this sweet little bundle of love. We know that it was a male that had abused her, too much to go into as to why we know but it is obvious. Thing is, God brought her to us, she was persistent in trying to get in, she never let an opportunity to try slip be her. It was as though she knew this was to be her forever home and God was telling her to keep knocking. She praised and thanked God for her food as she ate as I mentioned above and did so for a long time, still does at times but, she knows now that she does not have to search or beg, she has but to meow at us to get it if her bowl is empty. God is amazing, He shows Himself to us in so many ways. All it takes is that persistence and that personal interaction.
