I like to cook, which is obvious since my hips don’t lie. I was making muffins this morning and I really had a great moment with the Lord. If you’re a baker, you know that baking is science. If you jack up the measurements, then you probably won’t be too happy with the results. There are all sorts of recipes just like there are humans. Coincidentally, like some recipes, some humans are sweeter, bland, bitter, and I’m certain that all of us contain a few nuts. Of course some of us are a little nuttier than others :). Regardless, even if some ingredients are the same, every recipe is unique. I got into the issue of mixing & folding. Mixing is pretty much combining all the ingredients together while folding is the process of bringing the ingredients from the bottom to the top & gently mixing them in. Most of us like to mix because it is easier and quicker. What I found interesting about folding is that if you were gentle, mixing still occurs but you don’t lose the volume. There are some of us who want to exclude the trials, tests, pain, hurt, wounds, scars, because you don’t want to go through the process of God folding those things into your life’s recipe. It doesn’t matter if you contain some nuts or may have tossed in the wrong ingredient. God is more than capable of folding those bad experiences of your life into who He is ultimately creating you to be, without you losing any volume or substance. I walked away from making my muffins more grateful for every ingredient that has been folded into my life. Even the times where I thought my life should have been tossed out like bad batter from a mistake that I made. Maybe you are wondering how God will use all of your ingredients or maybe you’ve made some mistakes and you feel unworthy of His love. Gratefully, God doesn’t toss out any bowls of batter that contain mistakes. He gently folds them in with grace and uses the volume for His glory!!
