I like to keep up to date on all things that help us look young - TopicsExpress

I like to keep up to date on all things that help us look young and fresh. My clients want up-to-date information and advice. To this end I read books, amongst others, that aim to show the lovely fifty-plus gals how to look younger. I have to say that many of them make me shake my head in horror. Some of the tips, such as box-pleated skirts, leave much to be desired or how they seem to be full of don’ts rather than dos. No long hair, no short skirts, no bright colours. Recently I read a book published in the USA. This book does have some good tips but I did not like the lipstick one. The book recommended, no demanded, that once over a certain age pink lipstick and only pink lipstick should be worn. Yes, it was time for your lips to fade into obscurity. Lay aside your reds and browns and just buy pink. Will you look younger and fresher? NO I dont think so, with this advice she had let me down. Or had she? Her book was written for all women over 50 and she herself was blonde and light. She looked great in pink lipstick as do many women. But its NOT for EVERYONE. I work with individual clients or in small groups. There is no excuse for handing out general advice, unless it’s a talk to a large group. We have a duty to our clients to not waste their money by suggesting colours that don’t work for them. So far my clients have always been very pleased with the lipsticks I have recommended to them and that they have bought from me and I hope that even if they dont purchase their make up from me that they leave feeling armed with the knowledge to brave the cosmetics counters. Specific information tailored to their unique self.
