I like to say .. We never know whats around that corner in terms of greater levels of health and healing ... Some of you know that I recently had a full hysterectomy (almost six weeks out now) My recovery has certainly been challenging and yet I wouldnt go back... I was between a rock and a hard place and the surgery was necessary for me in more ways than one!! Today was a tears of joy day ... when I realized I had turned another corner in my recovery and was able to get in some greater intensity of exercise ... (when I start to feel any pulling in my pelvic area, I slow or stop... that is the sign for me that I may be doing too much) With the warmth of the sun shining down, I smiled in gratitude as I rode my bike and walked some hills in the neighborhood on this beautiful Sunday !!! The interesting thing about post hysterectomy recovery is that the doctors give very little post operative instructions, I kind of know why now ... everyone is different, but still I wanted more specifics ... apparently we have to figure them out on our own .. even friends seem to have different experiences with it ... I have even had to extend the normal six week recovery period to eight weeks in my case due to a major bleed out on July 3rd .. ( yes, I spent July 4th in the hospital ) but even there I felt that God was with me and protected me during a massive bleed that even left the doctors in the ER amazed ... Women with fibro have special needs when it comes to surgery, hormone replacement and any major trauma to the fibro body.. We will be working hard to be sure that everyone who has to go through this kind of thing will be better armed ... BEFORE a major surgery as well as AFTER ... I met with my webmaster this morning, and we talked about creating informational articles related to menopause and fibromyalgia , pre and post hysterectomy in fibromyalgia ..protecting the fibro body, heart, bone density and more !! I know from personal messages I have gotten, that some of you are facing this situation, some of you are scared ...what will a surgery do regarding the fibro ? Will it put you in a major flare ? I am here to say no, it does not have to !! I feel better than ever in many ways and have even noticed positive changes in my body, with more defined muscle tone and a greater sense of well-being ... so hysterectomy, although a major surgery can bring about positive changes for those who truly need it ... Refrain from any negativity, from anyone saying that fibro gets worse after this or that ... continue to follow us here .. we are passionate every day that we get to SHARE not only accurate awareness, but working solutions to a condition that is still widely misunderstood .. (even by treating doctors) WE are glad you are here ...part of the solution ...part of a group of determined and courageous fibro fit people !! lsfibro Lisa. FFP.
