I listened as long as I could. Not because I expected anything - TopicsExpress

I listened as long as I could. Not because I expected anything different. But because I felt the need to bear witness to the hypocrisy. To the injustice. To the lengthy justification of why its ok to chase an 18 year old kid and gun him down over supposedly shoplifting some cheap cigars. But the tears started to flow at 7:59 and grew so strong I had to turn everything off. Tears for the Black parents who continue to have their children murdered by people who swore to protect them. Tears for my black nephew who has to be taught to fall down flat on the ground in hopes of not being shot if stopped by the police. But not having to teach my white nephews the same. Tears for my blind brethren who believe their financial or social status makes them immune to these tragedies. Or they are too bamboozled and distracted by tv and fashion. Tears for our supposed allies who have remained silent or worse tried to justify military action on civilian babies who look like me. Yet weve supported all your causes. But please note, these tears may have started from sadness over the continued killing of my people. But these tears, the ones streaming down my cheeks right now, are fueled with the fire of ANGER. And I intend to let that fire BURN. #AngerToAction #NoJusticeNoPeace #Ferguson #BlackLivesMatter #OrganizedAction #FightForYourRights #StandingOnTheSideOfJustice #WhichSideAreYou
