I listened to Glenn Beck on the car radio this morning. On the way - TopicsExpress

I listened to Glenn Beck on the car radio this morning. On the way to my appointment, he talked about how fair and equal are not the same thing, and said its a Biblical tenet (although he did not quote verse and scripture). Was it Ezekiel 18:25 or Matthew 20:1-16? Based on the context, I am sure he was leaning towards the Old Testament on this one, although he did say he is a Christian. But, on to my story. In the second hour he said that in order for taxes to be fair, the 1% should be paying 1% of the taxes because they comprise 1% of the population (I guess he forgot about his earlier statement). According to an analysis of Federal Reserve data by the Economic Policy Institute, the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans control 35.6 percent of the total wealth of the country -- more than a third [source: Allegretto]. Even more incredible is that the richest 10 percent of Americans control 75 percent of the wealth, leaving only 25 percent to the other 90 percent of Americans. According to what Mr. Beck stated was a Biblical tenet the 35% of the total tax burden that is payed by the 1% is just about right, But the 75% of the total tax burden that should then be paid by the richest 10% is way off. So which is it? Can he have it both ways? Glenn Beck?
