I live in Surrey, BC which according to Statscan is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. Young families are moving into my area of Cloverdale every month. The elementary school my children attend has grown each year for the past three years from 250 students in 2011/12 to over 450 students last year. This letter from the principal of the school came in on Friday. I was wondering if any parents in Surrey or any other rapid growth area received the same. This is going against the trend. ...We were expected to have over 500 students this year but enrollment dropped to 464. This has resulted in a decrease in two divisions for this year. Elementary enrollment across the district has decreased causing some delays in staffing procedures.... Any theories as to why a growing city like this one with a young population would experience a drop in enrollment?
