I live in the Ocooch Mountains -- probably the smallest ridges - TopicsExpress

I live in the Ocooch Mountains -- probably the smallest ridges that qualify as mountains in North America. They also are the official most beautiful topography in the U.S. The drive from the Driftless Area through the Ocooch Pass, to the Great (Mississippi) River Road, north or south, is also the official #1 Most Scenic Autumn Drive in the U.S. (As reported by the U.S. Dept. of Tourism. ) Last week, I did a lot of driving through the Ocooch Pass, and along the River Rd, taking care of business. It was far, far more than I could bear. My heart is not large enough for this surround, the prismic colors of the Sugar Maples aflame and quivering in the frost-attendant wind. The billowing clouds of colors reflected in the river, dotted with Bald Eagles and Pelicans. The bluest sky. The greenest pastures. The amber waves of grain. Then the sunset! It shatters me to my core. Last night, with the last load, the Harvest Moon courted me coyly the hours drive home, and I could not hold in what Id seen; it spilled out in periodic sobs & gasps for breath. This tremendous beauty... its just killing me.
