I live in the bible belt, so I know that it comes as a surprise to some of you that we arent all Christians. A lot of us that are not Christians believe in being a good person, just like a lot of Christians do. Its not more or less disappointing when non-Christians behave poorly that when Christians do. Non Christians generally believe that they should be held accountable for all of their actions, as a point of philosophy, and that we are in charge of making things right, not just asking for forgiveness. Non-Christians often believe that forgiveness is great and all, and is likely a very important part of emotional healing, but its really all about your actions, not your beliefs. Most of us have a code that we live by, that includes not stealing, cheating, or lying. A lot of us believe that being a good person is a reward in itself, and that is enough. We do our best not to be selfish gluttons because its the right thing to do, not out of fear of punishment. Go forth and unfriend me, if you must.
