I live within the Austin city limits, but just barely... we still have a herd of cattle right down the street, and coyotes still howl at night. Im in far northeastern Austin, almost to the Manor town line. Im occasionally reminded of this... I was sitting out on the front porch on this spectacular Texas October evening, strumming my guitar and enjoying the 78° breeze. The coyotes sounded closer than normal tonight; the dogs in the neighborhood were restless and howled along with the coyotes in the near distance. The chihuahuas next door were going nuts trying to get out of the fenced yard. Suddenly four of them came strolling down the middle of the street from the direction of the greenbelt, not more them 20 feet from me. I swear they looked over and smiled at me; and nothing is more chilling than a coyotes smile in the pale moonlight. I decided to come inside. /o:
