I lived on my reservation for over seven years the Fort Berthold - TopicsExpress

I lived on my reservation for over seven years the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, I moved there to take care of my mother Charelyene Joyce Bears Tail. I see first hand how we as a people are divided, I am Mandan and Hidatsa, this is not by choice this is by birth, I went to one of my relatives who is Hidatsa and asked him if I could learn things about the Mandan, He angrily told me, If you what to learn Mandan got to Twin Buttes that is where they all are, go learn from them. My intention was not to offend anyone but to seek knowledge concerning my people of the MHA. from his statement I could see that there was no unity in the three tribes. Living there I seen how we are divided by segments, by families by social and economic structures. I told myself this is why we are so easily taken advantage and treated so terrible by those in current council positions, there is no unity. I experienced how people would look over their shoulder before they would make a statement to see of anyone was listening, I thought to myself how sad that people cannot even practice the right of free speech. This is just a few things I experienced while living on my reservation and now I see the elections and my people we must unite concerning this event, we must vote for change for the better for all, we must come into one voice into one heart into one agreement, not as Hidatsa or Mandan or Arikara but as one people united to bring to an end the corruption that greed the non transparency of our current administration. Let us come together to end all the one sided benefits for the few and vote to make our voice heard to say We stand untied as a people the people of the MHA or HAM or AHM or AMH or HMA or MAH no matter how we say the names we say them in unison for we live here we breathe here and our future generation are looking to us to make things right.
