I looked for this song for 40 years. 1958 to 1998. I hadnt even heard it in that long, but I never forgot it. I was at a records sale at the University of San Francisco. Id been there many times, On the day I found it, I was leaving. I was out the door. For some reason, I went back inside. Went to the far corner where a guy had a lot of 45s. Id looked at all the records he had out. Nothing. I was just standing there, and the guy asked if he could help me. I finally said, have you ever heard of a songs called Hey, Maryann by the Sputniks? Just as casual as hell he said, yeah, I have it right back here. I just bought a big stack of records yesterday, and I havent had time to really go through therm yet. I started shaking. I mean, REALLY shaking. Id NEVER done that before. I only had 60 bucks in my pocket, but I was prepared to pay whatever he asked. I wanted it THAT bad. He went through a stack of records behind him and brought out this record and handed it to me. I looked at it and asked him how much he wanted for it. It like to floored me when he said ten dollar. OH, MY GOD!!! I couldnt believe it. I handed him a ten, thanked him, and hurried out the door before changed his mind. I had 36 miles to go before I could listen to the song. I had to travel home by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). It took a long time, but everything was well worth it. Heres my favorite song from 1957. https://youtube/watch?v=EKShNOSsFpc
