I lost a cousin today. We weren’t very close anymore…we - TopicsExpress

I lost a cousin today. We weren’t very close anymore…we hadn’t been since we were kids. His life took him one way, and mine, another. He got involved in kinds of things that you can’t help someone with…you can only hope they want to help themselves someday. After years (and years) of no communication, my cousin reached out to me in February through Facebook. Those are the things you don’t expect to happen in life. They are also the good things in life. He had decided to help himself. He was working hard to turn his life around. I hadn’t known my cousin for years. I hadn’t known the man he was working so hard to become. He had a family now. I don’t know them…but he had a family…and he loved them. He told me about them…and I could tell how proud he was of them. He told me how much he cared for his mom (my aunt). He told me how he wished so much that he could help her with her health problems and the things she got herself involved in. “…she is one of the most kindhearted people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in my life.”, He said about her. I don’t know what lead up to his final moments, but I do, thankfully, know a small amount about the man he had become. I see the love and support coming from all over today as others mourn our loss. They say how much he was loved…and how much of a role model he was to so many. I now understand his path in life, and I think he did, too. He saw the bright side of things now, and the people he knew, no matter from where, have started to see them, too. I, for one, will remember him as the light he was becoming; I’m proud to call him my family. May you rest in peace, Billy Hunt.
