I lost my big bubba, Daniel Billstein, Friday night. He gave cancer the biggest fight that only he could give. For those of you that knew Daniel when we were younger, you may have known him as the neighborhood kid who always seemed to be in trouble, fellow marching band member, friend from baseball or scouts or church, but I always knew him as my big bubba. The one who never failed to push me down, pull my hair, or poke fun at my clumsy ways,.... the one who defended and protected me when the tables turned and anyone else was hurting my feelings. It is thanks to Daniel that Shane Hunn now has a career in water treatment because Daniel got him his first job at that nasty treatment plant. It is also thanks to Daniel that Shane and I are married (10 years this month!) and have a beautiful son, as Daniel introduced me to Shane 14 years ago. Daniel was always a gypsy soul... wandering along.... searching for his true meaning of life... searching for a place he truly felt at home. He definitely found that when he met Aimee Alisabeth Carr. I will never forget that phone call when I met you Aimee. My brother was SOOOO tickled and SOOOO in love. Then when I met you in person ... Ill never forget that day... Daniel SOOOO proud to tell me that he was goin to be a daddy. Aimee you and your beautiful boys were ALWAYS Daniels world. Thank you so much for being his rock... in good times and in bad. It is thanks to Daniel that I am blessed to call you my sister Aimee. You are such a great mom, and such an amazing, strong, Christian woman. My big bubba can be credited for so many of the most important things in my life. Thank you Daniel for leading me to the path that I call life. I know that you will continue to light the pathways for each of us, especially for your kiddos Aidan and Noah. I look forward to the day that we will meet again face to face. Keep that beer cold bro.... Ill be ready.
