I love Alberta....it has been my home since 1990...I have lived in Calgary...and a very small town in the middle of the southern prairies with less than 300 people...I have traveled high and low in this province....we weather deadly tornadoes, blizzards...incredible heat...fire & smoke....rain that comes all at once....booms and busts....we are strong...we are resilient...it is NOT for the faint of heart....the greatest memories I have are talking to the old timers...people who grew up ranching/farming...with no power or running water....as late as 1959...I have grown tremendously as a person in Alberta....there were times I wanted to run back to BC....or Vancouver in particular...just to sit by the ocean and live a more quiet, suburban life...but my heart is here....and so is my love for this province...the many friends I have made...the beautiful landscapes and the people...the true, strong people...who will help their neighbours in a heart beat....all is good....and we will clean up this mess and carry on....we will go to work...I love my job working at Casa Roma...a fixture in this town for over 25 years.... when travelers find themselves stranded due to blizzards or floods and they need a warm meal, they come into the restaurant....at first a little lost...or a little worried...but when they leave, they always have a smile on their face....small town hospitality.....my town...just like so many others...we make sure they get fed and have shelter...the Stampede is coming up and so are all the rodeos across this province....Stampeders won last night...cheer us all on....Life is good....remember to love your neighbour...and just be there if they need you.....big, big thanks to all the emergency workers and military too....LOVE YOU ALBERTA!
