I love Fridays! Heres an image of my favorite star, Sol, captured about 25 minutes prior to this post.....literally hot off the presses. Telescope AstroTech AT-130 at f/6, camera Canon 60Da at 1/1,000sec shutter speed and ISO 125. Check out active sunspot region AR2205 which erupted again on Nov. 7th (1726 UT) producing a potent X1-class solar flare and a CME. Anticipated impact on Earth is extreme UV radiation from the flare that will ionize the upper layers of Earths atmosphere, producing a short-lived HF radio blackout on the dayside of our planet. As of this image, we do not yet know if the CME is Earth-directed, thus we will be impacted by trillions of tons of heavy radioactive matter traveling at millions of miles per hour. Stay tuned.
