I love Marvin Gaye. His murder is such a tragic loss to music. I Want to Come Home for Christmas is one of the saddest and most beautiful Christmas songs. Gaye co-wrote this with Forest Hairston in hopes of being released for our troops in Vietnam. One would think that wouldnt have been difficult but given the anti-war sentiments, it was tough and when it did get released, it didnt sell well. I guess we dont mind having our troops spend the holidays in dangerous situations as long as we arent reminded of it while we gorge ourselves on rich foods and buy one last gift for that distant relative.
