I love Mel Brooks. He brought so much laughter to our home, for so many years! We watch his movies over and over and over. My oldest daughter has cerebral palsy; shes non-verbal, but has no problem understanding his movies because theyre so over-the-top hilarious. Certain parts of certain movies just send me into complete hysterics (for example - comb the desert! from Spaceballs; any of the Mongo scenes from Blazing Saddles). Shed turn around in her wheelchair, when she knew that part of whatever movie we were watching was coming up and, with a wicked grin, watch me collapse in laughter - every time. Of course, seeing that she knew it was coming also meant she was following and understanding the movie - a huge bonus, when so many dismiss the severely disabled. I just adore Mel, and his sick (wonderful!) sense of humor... God Bless Mel Brooks, may the power of the Schwartz be with him!
