I love New Years Eve! Today I am reflecting not just on this past year, which was a really good one, but also waaaay back. Michael and I used to live in a little duplex on the west side of town, circa 1999-2004. Our house was tiny and modest, but we loved it and we used to have a big NYE party every year. I would cook a ton of food, we would stock the bar, and we would decorate our place. Somehow (perhaps because so many in the group still smoked at the time and spent ample time outside during the party....) we packed 50 people or so in this little house and rang in the New Year together. So much has happened since then, we have even lost a few pals along the way (rest in peace, dear friends) and it makes me really appreciative of those early, simple years. We were just starting out in our lives, our careers, our relationship, but we had so much fun with what we had. I think thats a great way to look into the New Year. We may have more, do more, and want more at this stage of our lives, but reflection on where you have come from will always put it into perspective. Small town roots, a lot of hard work, some big wins and serious losses, and so many amazing people fill my past and that is what will fuel 2015 for me. Cheers, friends.
