I love UM Sports. Everyone who knows me knows that. However , the University of Miami recently sold some prized land next to Zoo Miami and the the Gold Coast Railroad Museum for a WalMart development project. Whats the big deal people say? The parcel is one of the last remaining tracts of Pineland Forests that made up South Dade eons ago until the arrival of homesteaders in the late 1800s. Deer , Turkey , Panthers and Indians roamed the area. Now less than 2 percent of the original rockland forest will remain. Another reason I want out of here! Who needs another friggin WalMart? As a child I played in those forests as did many of my friends.
