I love.... Wrap-around porches. I lived for 4 years with my grandparents Frahm in Ottumwa, Iowa....in a house full of aunts and uncles, a couple younger than I, and with a wrap-around front porch. Many memories take me back to that front porch. In later years when Frahms no longer made it their habitat, new owners ripped off that front porch. I saw pictures of what remained....a very small, sad looking structure....a lady who had lost her charm. My heart sank. On a trip back to Ottumwa several years back for a family reunion, I stopped back by that house. Gone. All that was left were a few steps from the back porch, and they were smoldering. Did the place burn down? I dont know. An historic setting....gone, forever. Thank goodness for photography. There are pictures. I have memories. Life is filled with changes. One day Ill be Home...true Home....with the One who never changes. All tears dried. All pain gone. Hope theres a wrap-around porch.
