I love a good black maxi dress in summer for its versatility...add some blingy sandals & some jewellery and Im off for coffee. Out for dinner?, no worries...some wedge heels and a cape and Im done! I recently received this maxi from Sequins and Sand: Live Your Best Summer. (gifted) its made by Eb&ive and to be honest it threw me a little at first. The underarms are gapey and there was draping that I wasnt expecting. I think it threw me because it was different to my maxis from last hear (creature of habit sometimes). When I decided to try it again yesterday I added a long line singlet to cover the sides of my breasts and also because the fabric is a little see through in the sun. I cheekily decided against a bra as theres plenty of draping and my singlet had some firmness. BINGO!, now it was working for me, I also tied a knot in the front hem to show some ankle and create a soft curve which was more flattering. For dinner last night I teamed tan wedges with a timber beaded necklace then added a Cape with colour and print. Tell you what, I just love this dress now! Sometimes you just need to play with a piece to customise it to your body shape or personal style :-) I love the front draping and the extra material at the sides, it creates interest. I can wear this dress with a denim jacket, vest, wrap or scarf...as long as I add colour...or colour and print. The neckline has a single row of sequins, just enough to add a little pep without overdoing it for daytime wear. By adding the necklace I changed the shape of the neckline to suit my body shape, is this something you practice with necklaces? There you have it, Im sure you will be seeing more of this one.
