I love and admire the courage of all women who have children. I - TopicsExpress

I love and admire the courage of all women who have children. I think raising kids is the hardest job in the world....its just not the job I wanted. I watched my own mother do it alone and she did a hell of a great job as an intelligent scientist, paid less than her male counterparts despite her genius, and trying to bring up a precocious daughter (thats me). BUT I MADE THE CONSCIOUS DECISION NOT TO HAVE CHILDREN---and so many of my women friends who had kids criticized me for it. This is a personal decision and my reasons are many, not always based on career, but so what if it is? This is not the only thing we women can do. You could turn the tables and say its very selfish to have kids, especially at this moment when the world is so filled with hatred. Students are graduating in the US and elsewhere and there are no jobs. Wars will probably be fought over land and water in the future. Why would I want to bring anyone into this world that I loved so much? Just to make a mini-me? There, Ive said it! For the longest time I wanted to say this and now this article allows me to put it out there. No comments about me, please. We have free speech on facebook, at least until the North Koreans hack us.
