I love being a techie. Heres why today: My online scheduling system can send out text reminders, but only if I pay for SMS credits. It can also export to Google/Outlook calendar, but appointment details are hidden unless I pay for a premium subscription. However, I found out today that I can connect my desktop version Outlook via webcal and get all the appointment details. So I came up with a #hack: I grabbed the webcal link, modified it, and successfully imported it into both my Google and Outlook calendars. SCORE! Next, Ill use IFTTT to write a recipe that looks for appointments in Google Calendar, uses the clients email to find a mobile number in my Google Voice contacts list, and auto-triggers an appointment reminder via Google Voice SMS. Heres to hoping stage two goes off without a hitch. Gotta keep that brain exercised, too!
