I love buying used books; seeing the names of their previous owner(s) inscribed inside, the crease of where theyd dog-eared a page makes me wonder why theyd stopped just then, right there. A to so & so with love from so & so on the first page before you even see who the authord dedicated the book to. Their love dedicated before the authors, I smile. Underlined passages that resonated with them or notes scribbled in the invisible margin. Theres a certain comfort to be found [that I find] between the tattered cover and almost immaculately unscathed last page of a well read and once cherished book.
