I love dogs and often feel closer to them than my own species but I am also saddened by how quickly we jump to negative conclusions about the behavior we see in humans yet often misinterpret or assign altruistic motivations to instinctive behavior in dogs. The comments I have seen on this video make the black and white dog out to be a hero and those driving by evil humans. What I see in this video is a male street dog trying to mount a dead street dog who was hit by a vehicle. My guess would be he was following her because she was in heat or he is stimulated by the novel smells of death and blood. In a country where starving children beg roadside, I have trouble faulting humans who drive by this without a second glance. The heart can only take so much hurt and the sorrows of our own species should take precedence for only when we are well and at peace can we truly focus on the welfare of other species.
